Paul Cantrill

Paul Cantrill is Head of Creative Development with Birmingham City Council. The role has involved developing Creative Birmingham, a partnership between the key players (Business Link, Advantage West Midlands, the Arts Council, Screen West Midlands and others) to secure funding and providing a range of services to address the needs of Birmingham's developing base of creative businesses. His previous
position with the City Council was as Business and Entreprise Manager, providing programmes to assist SMEs in all the major sectors.

Before joining the City Council, Paul held various positions in the private sector. He served as main board director of a major European technical consultancy and has worked in various positions in the
publishing and communications industries. He is a Director of the Princes Youth Trust (West Midlands), Film Birmingham, Centre for Environmental Research and Technology (University of Birmingham), Birmingham Centre for Manufacturing, Birmingham Business Services Company, the Creative Advantage West Midlands and Advantage Creative Funds, and Chair of Birmingham Venture Capital. He also currently serves
and supports the work of the Advantage West Midlands Media Cluster Opportunity Group.

In 2006, he was awarded a Professorship by University of Central England for his contributions to public policy.
