I undertook my undergraduate in Geography and Information Studies in University College Dublin, graduating in 2000. Between 2001 and 2002 I studied for a Masters in Geography in University College Dublin. Following from this I began my PhD research in the Department of Geography in Trinity College Dublin. This research is focused on examining the planning and use of urban public space in Dublin, London and Amsterdam. In 2005 and 2006 I held Urban Europe (UrbEurope) Research and Training Network Fellowships at the London School of Economics and University of Amsterdam. From 2005 until 2007 I held an Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences Post-Graduate Scholarship. I began as a post-doctoral research fellow on the ACRE (Accommodating Creative Knowledge) project in September 2008, working under Dr. Declan Redmond. My research interests include:

  • The impact of creative knowledge economy on urban regions
  • The physical and social dynamics of urban public space
  • The history and philosophy of urban planning
