Dr. Anders Paalzow

Anders Paalzow serves as Rector at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga (SSE Riga). He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics. His research interests cover macroeconomics, public economics, financial economics, and regional development.
Dr. Paalzow has expertise on a wide range of economic and social issues facing the Baltic countries within the enlarged European Union. He has been involved in several projects dealing with various aspects of the EU enlargement. The most recent was the INTERREG IIIC financed project: Best Practice Guidelines for Regional Development Strategies (GRIDS) focussing on various aspects of regional development and spatial planning in an enlarged European Union. The project findings were published in Regional Development and Spatial Planning in an Enlarged European Union, edited by Neil Adams, Jeremy Alden and Neil Harris, Ashgate 2006, where Dr. Paalzow contributed a chapter on discussing barriers to regional development in the new member states, and co-authored one chapter on regional development in the Latvian region of Latgale.
