Manfred Miosga is Professor of Urban and Regional Development at the Institute of Geography in the faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geosciences, University of Bayreuth.

His research interests are mainly in the field of spatial planning, cooperation in city regions, strategic development policies and innovations in urban management as well as metropolitan governance, cross border cooperation and the EU Regional Policy. He took part together with Sabine Hafner in the European project INTERACT (Integrated Governance for the City of Tomorrow) which was concerned with urban governance in European Cities and he also participates in the EU-project COMPETE – an European city-regional network aimed at sharing best practice on key factors influencing competitiveness of cities.

Furthermore he is head of the Identität & Image consultancy office in Weßling nearby Munich and consultant for municipalities in the field of urban management, strategic planning in cities and regions and project management.
