Mariette Sibertin-Blanc is assistant professor (maître de conférences) at the Geography and Planning Department at the University of Toulouse II and associate researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Urban and Sociological Studies (CIRUS-Cieu CNRS).

Her key research areas include urban development and political strategies in French metropolitan areas. Her work concentrates in particular on local cultural policies and metropolitan governance. She is involved in student supervision and regularly collaborates with the Town Planning Agency in Toulouse on cultural issues. She participated in several studies on public policies, especially within the framework of the French Observatory for Cultural Policies, or with the European Union (INTERREG III-B). She just launched a study on the economical and territorial impact of an internationally known jazz festival in a rural area in France (Marciac). She has recently copublished a book with Alain Lefebvre on cultural policies in small-sized cities.
