Dr Michal Meczynski is a lecturer and researcher an the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. He earned his Ph.D. in June 2006 after defending a thesis about spatial differences in and the diffusion of information and communication technologies in Poland. He took part in the Europa Fellows scholarship programme of the government of the Federal Republic of Germamy at Viadrina University in Frankfurt on the Oder and Collegium Polonicum at Slubice (2003-2006). He obtained a one-year grant from the Polish Ministry of Science and Education in 2006 to continue his research on the spatial differences in information and communication technologies and their diffusion. His main research interests include:

  • spatial differences in the innovativeness of the economy;
  • spatial diffusion of information and communications technology;
  • urban governance; and
  • town and city planning.
