Niamh is a graduate of Geography and Politics from UCD and is a lecturer in the School since 2003. She has a PhD from NUI Dublin and is a research associate of Urban Institute Ireland. She is Director of Teaching and Learning within the School and teaches a range of courses at undergraduate level in urban studies, globalisation, social geography and practical methods in geography. Her main research interests focus on the development and implementation of urban policy in a range of fields, including regeneration, sustainability, social inclusion and industrial heritage. Niamh has co-edited two books, the first with Dr Mark Scott (UCD) Renewing urban communities: Environment, citizenship and sustainability in Ireland (Ashgate, 2005), and the second with Dr Yvonne Whelan (University of Bristol) entitled Heritage, Memory and the Politics of Space: New Perspectives on the Cultural Landscape (Ashgate, forthcoming). She is currently completing a book based on her PhD research, Reinventing Dublin Docklands, which will be published in early 2007 by Four Courts Press. Niamh has worked on a number of EU projects including a joint EU-Human Resources Development Canada project from 1999-2002 and is currently a member of the Dublin City Council local partnership for the EU funded project BERI, managed by Belfast City Council.
