Prof. dr hab. Tadeusz Stryjakiewicz is professor in the Institute of Socio-Economic Geography and Spatial Management, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, and head of its Department of Regional Policy and European Integration.

PhD (1986) and post-doctoral dissertation (habilitacja, 2000) in Geosciences (socio-economic geography) at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

He held fellowships at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main (1991/92) and the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University of London (1998/99). Visiting lecturer at Erasmus University in Rotterdam (1991).

He is chairman of the Scientific Board of the Wielkopolska Institute and a member of the Scientific Board of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Organisation, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.

His main research interests are: the globalisation process and its impact on regional and local development; regional innovation strategies; building a knowledge-based economy in East-Central European regions; and regional policy and regional co-operation in the Polish-German border area.

In the 1990s he participated in a few pre-accession PHARE-ACE projects; at present he is involved in two research projects:

  1. Impact of foreign investors on regional and local development, and
  2. Prospects for spatial development of the Polish-German border area until 2020 in the context of EU enlargement.
